About
Rino Li Causi

Rino Li Causi

Rino Li Causi

was born in Marsala Sicily in 1943 during the allied bombings of WWII. In 1960, in order to escape the post war poverty of Sicily, he moved to Rome. There, at the age of 14, Rino began his adult life as a pasta salesman and assistant electrician.

In 1962 he moved to Florence where he began his artistic pursuits under the influence of friends who were already established artists. Although completely self taught artistically, he was mentored by Pietro Annigoni, Alfio Rapisardi and Angelo Vadala.

In 1969 he moved to New York City and began to successfully capture the essence of his emotional inspirations on canvas. Li Causi’s paintings have been exhibited and enthusiastically received in major galleries throughout the world including one man shows in Tokyo, Florence, Rome, New York and Nice (France).

Li Causi’s creations celebrate the wondrous beauty of nature, represented by an almost overwhelming explosion of color. His canvases also act as windows into an age of innocence gone by. The past is ever present in his work. Naive characters from another time challenge us to comprehend the complexity and accomplishment of our modern day world. They beckon us to remember our journey to the present with both pride and nostalgia.

In 2005 Li Causi began selling his images as RinoCards. Each card is handmade and hand signed by the artist. The card line continues to grow and now includes over 300 images. It gives Rino Li Causi great pride to know that his cards help people to express their most intimate feelings.

Rino's other pursuits include making Whimsical Sculptures many of which can be found on the island of Favignana, Sicily where he spends his summers relaxing and recharging his creative mind. He also writes Poetry and has published a collection in a book entitled "I Sogni Intorno a Noi" / "The Dreams Surrounding Us". He also has taken several of his creations and turned them into Songs with the help of his life parter Jan Horvath, a Broadway singer, songwriter and voice teacher.

Rino Li Causi continues to create Art in his Greenwich Village Studio in New York City and welcomes you to come visit anytime!
